Stability and Shelf life of Pigment Suspensions
Pigments are the bases of paints, coatings, as well as for products such as make-up and suntan lotions. One of the primary means of improving product quality is by understanding the behavior of the dispersed pigments. One of the targets in this quest is measuring the stability of suspensions, that is their resistance to events such as aggregation, flocculation and sedimentation. While indirect ways at attempting to measure the processes for simple suspensions have been available for years, the are cumbersome and imprecise. For more complex systems or nanoparticle suspensions there has been method available. With the introduction of the LUMiFuge however this problem in dispersion analysis has finally been resolved. The LUMiFuge can easily measure pigment stability, predict shelf life stability, and provide dispersion fingerprints with an unparalleled resolution and sensitivity.
